CHRISTMAS GIVING TREE
There are still some angels left on the tree to get you in the Christmas spirit. Please sign your name in one
of the books with the number of the angel you take.  Remember, all gifts are due back by next Sunday,
December 14. Please put them in the big box in the back of  Church. We need lots of help on Tuesday, December 16 when we sort gifts and put them back into families. We begin at 9:00am by the storage bin. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Just show up and we'll put you to work. We will also need lots of drivers to deliver food and gifts on Saturday, December 20.We start at 7:30am and put the food boxes together then assign you families to deliver to. It is a wonderful family experience to work together and deliver gifts and food to very appreciative families who need some extra help. If you have any questions please call Rose Mary Becker at 650-941-9673 or Staci Erjavec at 650-961-6110. If you would like to help deliver gifts on Saturday, December 20 please call Walt Fant at 650-967-3462. We wish you a wonderful peaceful Christmas.

nothing, but brings great cheer to many elderly and convalescents. Gather in the Simon Room at 1:15pm for light
refreshments and rehearsal. We will travel to two local facilities to sing and bring Christmas cheer. Get in the true spirit of  Christmas! This event costs only your time! For more information,  contact Moira Delumpa moira@delumpafamily.com. All are welcome to participate.

Christmas Program and Band Concert – Everywhere, It’s Christmas
The annual St. Simon Christmas Program and Band Concert will be held Thursday, December 18.  The 1:15 p.m. show is for friends, siblings, grandparents and other visitors.  Because it is difficult for some people to climb the stairs, there will be some chairs available on the floor.  The 7:00 p.m. show is for parents only.  We hope that you will abide by this request so that all of our parents will have seats and will be able to see.  The Parish Center doors will open at 6:15 p.m.  Please do not save seats.
Come one, come all, to the St. Simon School Christmas Band Concert to hear them start off our Christmas Program.  Holiday tunes will abound, toes will be tapping, and your spirits will be lifted as you listen to our band students perform.  The concert will begin at 7:00 p.m. in the Parish Center.  For more information, contact the band director, Mr. Craig Hirotsuka, at (650) 430-3800 or trmptplyr@aol.com.

2009 Father Murray Basketball Tournament Sponsorship Form
With the Fr. Murray Memorial Basketball Tournament approaching, January 21st-25th, we are looking for sponsorships to help offset some of the costs of the tournament as well as let us give any profit back to the athletic department.   We have 4 different levels and we are hoping that the St. Simon parents can help – either with family businesses or friends’ businesses.  This will help underwrite the cost of the spaghetti dinner, trophies and programs.  We want this tournament to continue for years and we need your help to make sure it is a success. SPONSORSHIP FORM

Pizza Lunch
Pizza lunch will take place on Thursday, December 18.  Please have order forms in by Friday, December 12.  PIZZA LUNCH ORDER FORM

What’s Going on in the Science Lab?
Grade 5, Room 12 learned about the excretory system and how your kidneys function.  They did an experiment with sugar and water that showed how important water is in the process of diluting/digesting waste.
Grade 4, Room 9 looked at cells, bacteria, diatoms, algae, paramecium, and documented the characteristics.  Who knew a microorganism had the capacity to capture, stab and eat other microorganisms?  It was an eye opener that one teeny tiny cell could do all that!
Grade 3, Room 5 used created paper models of the Outer Planets and got to see first hand how HUGE Jupiter is in comparison to the others.  After creating all the planets, they were able to see that the outer planets got smaller the farther away they got from the sun and its gravitational pull.
Grade 2, Room 2 compared the physical properties of Rocks vs. Minerals and documented some clear differences as well as some similarities.
