St. Nicholas Day
We will celebrate St. Nicholas on Friday, December 4.  Please have your child (K-8) bring in an extra shoe on Friday so something can be placed in it.

Weekly Gift Card/Scrip ordering
The holidays will quickly be approaching.  Purchase Gift Card Scrip for friends, family, the Giving Tree, and more via the Tuesday envelope. Go to the school's Scrip and eScrip web page at http://school.stsimon.org/scrip--escrip.  Both an order form and release form to have your Scrip sent home can be found on this page.  Return your signed release and order form on Wednesday when you send your child's envelope back, and your order will be ready the following week for pickup or delivery.   More information can be found on the school's Scrip and eScrip web page.
eScrip is a way to donate to Saint Simon when you make a purchase from participating vendors using your credit, debit, merchant or grocery card.   Our goal is 100% participation in the Electronic Scrip (eScrip) program.  Do your regular shopping, and eScrip will forward a contribution back to Saint Simon at no cost to you!  To enroll, go to the eScrip website at http://www.escrip.com, and use Saint Simon's id #137106957.  Have questions about the eScrip program? View the eScrip FAQ page or contact Karen Carrie.

Eighth Grade Cookie Dough Fundraiser
We are raising money for the eighth grade gift to the school by selling GOURMENT COOKIES, COFFEE CAKES, BROWNIES, CHEESECAKES, CINNAMON ROLLS & COFFEE.  Each family should try to sell 15 items to help us meet our goal. If the student body sells 1000 items or more the entire school will be treated to an ice cream party.  Orders and money are due on Wednesday, December 2.  The items will be available for pick up on Monday, December 14. So make room in your freezers and please support us!

Financial Aid
If you are currently receiving Financial Aid or are interested in receiving Financial Aid for the 2010-11 school year, please contact Mr. Clossick directly to obtain a Financial Aid Application.  All families interested in receiving Financial Aid next year, even if you already are receiving Financial Aid, must submit a new Financial Aid Application for the 2010-11 year.
The deadline for PSAS to receive Financial Aid Packets is February 1, 2010.

Fr. Murray T-shirt Orders
In January, St. Simon School will host the 6th Annual Fr. Murray Basketball Tournament.  Fr. Murray t-shirts in this year's new design are on sale now through December 16th.  Shirts are only available through this order process, they will not be sold at the tournament.  The t-shirts are approved for the St. Simon P.E. uniform.  If you have any questions regarding the t-shirts, please feel free to contact Robbyn Denzel at robbynd@comcast.net.  Please print and return the attached form to your child's homeroom (it is o.k. to order multiple shirts for siblings with one form and one check).

Christmas Program –Camel Lot
The annual St. Simon Christmas Program will be held Thursday, December 17.  The 1:15 p.m. show is for friends, siblings, grandparents and other visitors.  Because it is difficult for some people to climb the stairs, there will be some chairs available on the floor.  The 7:00 p.m. show is for parents only.  We hope that you will abide by this request so that all of our parents will have seats and will be able to see.  The Parish Center doors will open at 6:15 p.m.  Please do not save seats.   More information will follow.

St. Simon Teacher Fund
As 2009 draws to a close and you are mulling over possible year-end tax deductible donations, please consider putting the St. Simon PAG Teacher Fund at the top of your list.  The Teacher Fund reimbursement for teachers is $1800 and it helps reduce the financial burden for new teachers getting credentialed, and to better cover the increases in classroom curriculum material costs, etc.  As such, we could use your donation (of any amount) to help us offset this year's expenses. We rely not just on the Walk-a-thon, but on direct donations year-round.  Your gift in not only tax-deductible but will also make a direct impact in continuing the academic excellence here at St. Simon School.  The teachers and PAG TF committee thank you for your consideration.  Any questions, please contact agilmoreallen@yahoo.com.

2010 Father Murray Basketball Tournament Sponsorship Form
With the Fr. Murray Memorial Basketball Tournament approaching, January 20th-24th, we are looking for sponsorships to help offset some of the costs of the tournament as well as let us give any profit back to the athletic department.   We have 4 different levels and we are hoping that the St. Simon parents can help – either with family businesses or friends’ businesses.  This will help underwrite the cost of the spaghetti dinner, trophies and programs.  We want this tournament to continue for years and we need your help to make sure it is a success.

SSS Junior High and St. Simon Parish Edge Group
Saturday, Dec. 5th from 7-9:30 pm all student in 6-8 grade are invited to participate in a Youth Movie Night hosted by Mrs. Gremett and Mrs. Liberty.  In the spirit of Advent, we will be watching the movie The Ultimate Gift, eating popcorn, participating in some discussions, and small group activities.
No need to RSVP, just plan on attending!
We will meet in Simon room at 7pm!  See you there!

Report Card and Sports
Report cards went home yesterday.  If you anticipate your student will be joining a non-St. Simon sports team before 3/15 (when the Trimester 2 report cards come out), save yourself some time by making a copy of this Trimester 1 report card before you sign & send it back!  Often times, the team requires a copy of your student's most recent report card.
