Vacation Bible School 2010
This year’s camp will be held the week of June 21– 25 from 9:00am – 12:00pm. At this time we would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to Melissa Powell and Joelle Baranowski for “giving back” their time and talents as Chair and Co-Chair of this event for the past several years. Unfortunately, they will not be returning to their positions, and we are in need of a co-chair or an assistant chair and several adult volunteers. We do not want this special activity for our children to be dropped, but if we do not have enough personnel to help with the program, we may have to do JUST that! Details on registration, cost, and more coming soon. Contact Sr. Kathleen at khanley@stsimon.org or call the parish office at 650-967-8311 if you can help with this wonderful summer camp!
Would you like to win $1000?
Come check us out on March 25th at 7:00 p.m. in the church.

JOIN WALKATHON COMMITTEE
We are looking for a few more hardy souls to help with key areas of the St. Simon Parish School Surf-the-Turf Walkathon on April 25th... some of our chair positions are perfect for working parents (minimal preparation/ primarily on the day of the event). Meet other fun committee chairs and learn more about putting on one of the key fundraisers for the St. Simon PAG Teacher Fund. Join us for our meeting at 7:50-8:30 a.m. this Wednesday Feb. 24th in the school conference room (room 1/off school lobby). See you there! If you can't join us but want to get involved, please email us at cathy@dxm.com <mailto:cathy@dxm.com> or celine_schmidek@yahoo.com
CONSIDER UNDERWRITING THE WALKATHON
To offset the cost of the Walkathon and maximize the proceeds for the Teacher Fund, we are looking for underwriters to help cover the cost of the DJ (using the same great DJ from the parish bbq last September) as well as raffle prizes and other expenses. If you are able to or can have your business sponsor this great event, please contact Chairs Celine Schmidek or Cathy Swearingen at the emails above. Thank you for your support!
1st Grade Classroom Clips
The first graders have been very busy this year, from getting to know our way around the “Big School,” to adjusting to a full day in class. We are now feeling very comfortable and confident with being in first grade. We were so excited when we finally got to meet our eighth grade partners! We are enjoying a wonderful year with them by attending Mass together, celebrating holidays, and getting to know each other better. In October, which is the month of the Holy Rosary, we learned to pray the rosary. We pray our rosaries whenever we have free time, and we pray for the needs of our own families and of the world. During this time we also learned about some of our special saints. We each learned some important facts of these holy people and how they led their lives so that we, too, can learn to follow their good example. To celebrate All Saints Day, in November we all dressed as our saints for the annual Saint Parade. In December we dressed in our Sunday best and sang, “Silent Night” in the Christmas program. We practiced for weeks and were able to sing for the whole school and for our families. We also took our first field trip to Saint Francis High School to watch the advance drama classes. We watched “Scooby Doo, Pocahontas and Happily Ever After”. Thank you to our moms and dad who chaperoned and drove us there. In February we had a great Valentine’s Day party with our 8th grade buddies. We enjoyed treats and juice before going into the gym and playing some fun games, like freeze dance together. The first graders all agree that being in the “Big School” is lots of work but also lots of fun!
It’s Happening Now
Spring registration for after school activities is available now. Many new programs have been added but with limited space. So go on line, complete the registration, and send in a check to Marilyn Willey. Some classes start soon so act fast!
