Welcome Back!
¡Bienvenidos a la clase de español! Welcome back to The Spanish class at St. Simon School! This year will be filled with the exciting challenge of continuing learning this new language. I teach this class because I enjoy teaching and helping my students overcome the challenge of learning a new language. This class will be exciting, rewarding, and fun. I strongly encourage you to speak Spanish during class. Feel free to ask many questions. You will learn much if you make the effort.
Student Materials
Textbook: ¡Ven Conmigo! Level 1, published by Holt Rinehart. St. Simon School will provide the textbook, therefore the students can take the book home for homework and reference, but they need to bring it to school every day they have Spanish class.
Spanish-English Dictionary: this is a MUST! Students need to work individually and will be assigned to find vocabulary words, write sentences and do homework and the Spanish-English dictionary will be needed for these assignments.
Spanish binder: Students are expected to maintain a neat, well-organized three ring binder to keep notes, assignments, handouts, worksheets, homework, quizzes and exams.
Absence Make-up Procedure
Upon returning to school following an excused absence, it is the student’s responsibility to find and do his/her make-up work from the homework website: http://school.stsimon.org/class-pages The student will be given the same amount of time to make up the work as the number of days the student was absent unless other arrangements are mutually agreed upon.
Grades
The trimester grades will be calculated based on the following criteria:
50% Tests and Big Projects
25% Quizzes and Small Projects
10% Homework
15% Classwork
