SAINTS Stars:
Student Learning Standards (SLE’s):
Spiritual
Academically Prepared
Inquisitive
Neighborly
Trustworthy
Strong
When students are caught being good, performing acts showing our SLE’s they receive a star.
Student Make-up Work:
When students are absent they will always have time to finish their make up work. The number of days the student is absent is the number of days they will have to make up the work.
When students know they will be absent or request their work before they return, please expect it to be prepared when he/she returns to school. I will try my hardest to have everything ready. There are some days that this will not be possible, I thank you in advance for your patience.
Grades:
Please refer to the St. Simon Parent-Student Handbook for school policies on grades. Tests will be given more weight than homework or class work assignments. Grades for daily work and class participation are entered at the end of the trimester.
Please don’t be concerned too much about your child’s grades in third grade. The focus of third grade should be on sharpening your child’s basic skills, learning the basic foundations, and helping them to develop responsibility for their own learning.
Homework:
Each night students are required to get their Homework Copy Book (HWCB) signed by their parent(s). This signature shows me that the students have done all their homework, including verbal, unwritten homework (reading, math facts etc).
Every night students will have to read aloud and study their math facts for homework. Math facts will start with addition and subtraction and move to multiplication and division.
Parent Communication:
Homework will be posted on my class page on the St. Simon School website under Academics / Class Pages / Grade 3 / Room3 (http://school.stsimon.org/room-3). I do my best to post homework Monday through Friday by 6 PM. You may use this as a backup for your child’s homework copybook.
A packet of each student’s work and tests may be sent home in a special folder inside their Tuesday envelope. Carefully review the work, sign the tests, and return the work to school in the folder the next day. Tests will be kept in a file and may be viewed at any time.

Each week, the Room 3 Newsletter will be emailed to all parents informing them of classroom information and what we have been up to all week. I may communicate through the HW CB on a more daily basis.
Parents are expected to sign their child’s HW CB daily. If it is not signed, the child will receive a pink ticket, for unfinished homework, and it will be entered into the logbook.
If you send notes to me in your child’s HW CB, please write them on a separate piece of paper. If the subject matter is sensitive, please enclose them in an envelope.
Please work with me first if you have an issue. If you are not satisfied with my response, please feel to contact the principal. Please do not go directly to the principal without discussing an issue with me first.
