2009 SURF-THE-TURF WALKATHON RECAP
Today, Tuesday was the Awards Rally for the Walkathon. St. Simon really came together as a community despite the economy and heat- we raised $22k for the Teacher Fund before expenses. Individual awards were given for various levels as well as classroom winners for the most money raised. In addition, raffle prize winners were picked. Congratulations to all the winners! A special thank you to our underwriters and various merchants who donated many of the fun prizes. Thank you also to our hardworking committee, especially departing chair Eva Valencia, as well as the team of almost 100 volunteers who made this fun event happen. See you at next year's Walkathon!

Students will be involved in assisting with various Catholic Charities sites including serving & making meals at homeless shelters, working with low-income children, the Day Worker Center, the Senior Center and food distribution sites. Your Backpack donations can be brought to the Rectory or placed in the collection box in the Vestibule of the Church. Questions: Call LIFE TEEN 650-967-8311 X 31.
Host Family Program
We are looking for St. Simon School families who are interested in welcoming a new family to our school community next school year. As a host family, your role would be to greet a new classmate and his/her family and provide support for them as they enter St. Simon School. You would need to attend New Family Night on Thursday, August 20th and invite them to join you for one simple activity over the summer. Families with incoming Kindergarten students are invited to a picnic with the entire class on Saturday, August 22, from 10:00 AM to 12 noon at Grant Park. If you are interested in being a Host Family or helping with Kindergarten Welcome Picnic, please contact Robbyn Denzel at (650) 691-1090 or robbynd@comcast.net by Friday June 5, 2009.
SAVE THE DATE: "T.G.I.F." Fall Parish Wide BBQ: Friday, August 28th!
Come ONE, Come ALL to the "Welcome Back From Summer Fall BBQ"!
Friday, August 28th!
We will be celebrating the start of a new PSR/CCM/EDGE/LifeTeen and St. Simon School Year "T.G.I.F. Style"! Father Warwick is already shopping for his red and white stripped apron! Please save the date to enjoy music, entertainment, games and a good old fashion end of the summer BBQ!
The Welcome Committee and The Men's BBQ Team would love to have some more volunteers for this event! I know, I know, THE LAST thing you want to do at the end of the school year is to volunteer for another thing! HOWEVER, to make this parish wide event happen, we need help from the parish wide members! AND, it is not until August, so you have some time off! Okay, enough begging, PLEASE contact Eileen Faria by email : efaria@stsimon.org. to share your time (which should be no more than 2-4 hours-REALLY) and help build the St. Simon Parish Community one BBQ at a time! CHEERS!

Congratulations to our Kindergarten students who will be graduating this Wednesday, June 3, at 7:00 p.m. It is impressive to see how much they have grown and how much they have learned during this school year. Congratulations to their teachers, Ms. Cassella and Mrs. Kozlovsky, and their aides, Mrs. Kealey, Mrs. Domier, Mrs. Brusher, and Mrs. Navarro, for providing a happy and educational year for our youngest students.
On Saturday, June 6, at 10:00 a.m., our Eighth Grade students will graduate from St. Simon School.
We congratulate and thank Mrs. Nealon, Ms. Riley, Mrs. De Carlo, Mrs. Tachibana, Mr. Johnson, Ms. Bordeleau, Mrs. Allen, and Mr. Rose, who worked closely with the 8th graders this year, and we also thank all of the teachers and staff members who worked with the students throughout their years at St. Simon.
