Schedule

Kindergarten is offered from 7:55 am - 2:00 pm.  Additional hours are available through our Extended Care Program from 7:00 am - 7:55 am and 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm. Kindergarten calendar 2017-2018

Ratios

Our kindergarten program can accept a maximum of 30 children per classroom. Each kindergarten classroom is staffed by a full-time credentialed teacher, as well as two instructional assistants. Our staffing ratios in kindergarten are superior to the California state requirements for a 12:1 ratio in Kindergarten by proving a 8:1 ratio. This level of staffing better serves the individualized learning needs of children at this special age.

Age cutoff

The California Department of Education requires that children be five by September 1.

Kindergarten facilities

Our two dedicated kindergarten classrooms were specially designed to meet the needs of our younger students. Children in these classrooms have a self-contained facility that provides separate restrooms for boys and girls, as well as a play area directly outside of their classrooms. In addition, kindergarten is given a special schedule that offers priority access to the campus playground facilities each day, as well as a daily extended care program where age-appropriate enrichment activities are provided.

 

We are excited that you are considering Saint Simon Parish School's kindergarten program.  We offer a comprehensive  program that encourages learning and fun for our youngest students.  Our program helps develop behaviors that enable them to be successful in a classroom setting, while teachers work to meet each child's needs and abilities.

Apply to Kindergarten

To apply to the Kindergarten program please complete an Application.  Your application submission will be confirmed immediately via e-mail.  Fees (cash or check) should be submitted to Saint Simon Parish School, c/o Admissions, 1840 Grant Road Los Altos CA  94024 once we have confirmed receipt of your application and forms.

Required Information

  • A completed Application
  • Application fee of $50.00 per student (non-refundable, payable by check or cash).
  • Submit the following required forms:
     Immunization Record
     Santa Clara County TB Risk Assessment for School Entry
     Birth Certificate
     Baptism Certificate (if Catholic)
  • Applications received after the deadline will be considered on a space available basis.

Kindergarten Screening

  • Applicants must be five years old by September 1, 2017.
  • Screening sessions for students applying for Kindergarten will take place on Monday, February 13th; Wednesday, February 15th, and Thursday, February 16th.
  • Appointments last approximately twenty-five minutes.
  • Kindergarten screening is individualized, and is an informal evaluation of a child's readiness.
  • Please note that your screening appointment may be rescheduled if we have not received a completed application, appropriate fees, and all required forms.

Acceptance Letters

  • Acceptance letters mailed to all families during the week of February 13, 2017, within one day after the screening is complete and assessed.

Registration and Enrollment Deadline

  • Upon acceptance, a $475.00 non-refundable registration fee and a $200 non-refundable technology fee are due by Thursday, March 3, 2017. Click here for important information on registration fees and deadlines.
  • Students are not officially enrolled until registration and technology fees are submitted.
  • In the event the number of applicants exceeds spaces available children will be placed on a waiting list and admitted subject to space availability.

Kindergarten Visit Day

  • Students accepted into the kindergarten program are invited to visit classrooms on Thursday, May 18, 2017 from 10:00 am - 11:15 am.
