By reaching out to others, we grow in faith and justice.
St. Simon School, in partnership with each school family, strives to form
a community of faith dedicated to living and teaching the message and mission
that Jesus Christ entrusted to His church. Our goal is to provide students
with a strong curriculum, teaching good study habits, instilling the values
of respect for themselves, their families, the faculty, their peers and their
community, ultimately preparing them to be successful in life.
Student Projects
Students at
St. Simon are given numerous opportunities to participate in service-learning
projects throughout the year.
For example, during Advent, each class
or grade selects an outreach project to support. Students learn about the
background of the project and decide how best to help the people or organizations
involved.
Different grades also organize
unique Lenten Projects. For example, fourth
and fifth graders have asked sponsors to donate
money for every book he/she reads, or for
how many minutes he/she reads. The funds
collected are donated to the Heifer Project, which uses the money to buy
farm animals for needy people around the world in order to provide a source
of income now and into the future. Sixth
graders have participated in Project Ride. This organization gives autistic
children a chance to socialize and gain confidence by having the opportunity
to ride horses. The sixth grade class had a bake sale to raise
money for this promising program.
