Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth (CTY) Information Meeting Tuesday 10/11/11 @ 7pm in the Church: St. Simon will host Cassidy Zimmerman, the Talent Coordinator for the Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth (CTY) on Tuesday, October 11th, 2011 @ 7pm (in the Church).
The CTY program is now in its 33rd year and is recognized as a world leader in providing programs and services designed to identify and develop the academic abilities of the world's brightest students. Students in Grades 2-8 may apply for the CTY Talent Search if they scored in the 95th percentile (or higher) on a state or nationally normed standardized test (i.e., ITBS). More information can be found at: www.cty.jhu.edu
The JH-CTY program is not affiliated with St. Simon Parish School, St. Simon facilitates the process of identifying students who may qualify and hosts the annual informational meeting. If you would like specifics on the program, please contact Cassidy Zimmerman, Talent Coordinator, at: czimme11@jhu.edu
As ITBS testing was just completed, we will not have qualifying scores for this year until after this meeting has taken place. However, all parents who want to learn more are welcome to attend, as well as parents who were informed their child qualified last year. For families new to St. Simon this year, you will have to look at the standardized testing from your prior school (e.g., STAR results) to determine if your child qualifies, until the most recent ITBS scores become available.
